TalentBridge: All About Highly Skilled Creative Talent
Talent, Creative Class, Knowledge Workers, Entrepreneurship … cool buzzwords (some would contend) that are (some would contend again) fast emerging as qualifications that almost anyone and everyone wants to be defined with. True, sometimes these terms … especially in their (over)use as prescription for curing most of our current economic woes … are indeed infuriatingly vague and lack any context to what or who they really represent. Having developed a fairly good understanding of how these terms are used in the literature and having worked with youth entrepreneurs from across Ottawa over the last five years, I have come to see some common underlying theme to all of these characterizations … they, in my opinion, represent a population segment with a genuine desire and burning passion to build interesting things … often at the edge of the “untested and untried” and usually replete with fresh and novel … and it rarely matters what their background is … which domain and/or industry they are from and or what their professional designation is … the only constant as we are increasingly discovering in TalentBridge is … “the cool” … in their attitude, in their outlook, in their beliefs, in their work, in their pursuit of excellence, in their persistence, in their ability to inspire … and sometimes I feel … in their cool itself. Ottawa is indeed lucky and blessed to be blessed with such a generous sprinkling of the skilled creative talent …
